Top 5 International Schools

Looking for an international preschool, primary or secondary school in Limassol? It’s a huge decision and easily one of the biggest stressors for expat families moving here. We’ve pulled together everything you need to know so you can make the best choice for your children and take one more thing off your very full plate.

We know so many expats in Cyprus, and nearly every single one says the same thing: “I just want to find a good school where my child will be happy and thrive.” Whether you’re moving from the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong or the UAE, the right school makes all the difference.

Limassol has some excellent international schools - ranging from traditional British curriculum schools to more progressive, holistic learning environments. Some have been around for decades, and others are newer and offer fresh approaches. But one thing is for sure: the waitlists are no joke. If you’re eyeing Foley’s or Heritage, don’t wait, get your child’s name down as soon as possible.

A Quick Note on Location...

Before you fall in love with a school, take a good look at where you’re going to live. Heritage and The Island, in particular, are fantastic but they’re also quite a drive from central Limassol and some residential areas. That daily commute can be tough if you’re doing drop-offs and pick-ups yourself. There is a school bus service from age 6, but it comes at an additional cost.

Also worth noting: after-school activities are popular and can be a great way to extend the day a little (especially if both parents are working), but they usually come at an extra cost too.

And in case no one warned you school days in Cyprus start and finish early! Many schools begin around 7:30 - 8:00am and wrap up just after lunch. This can be a big adjustment, especially if you’re used to a 9 - 3 system. Wraparound care is not always available, so if both parents are working full-time, this is something you’ll really want to plan for.

Another challenge? School tours aren't as accessible here as they might be elsewhere. We found that some schools, like Heritage and Foley’s, don’t offer regular open days or easy touring options, which can make decision-making a little tricky. And both schools are selective, your child will need to complete an assessment before being offered a place.
