Top 5 Local Beaches
One of the biggest perks of life in Limassol? The sea is always just minutes away. Whether you're heading out with toddlers, teens or just craving a barefoot walk by the waves, Limassol’s beaches offer something for every kind of day.
Here are five of our favourite beaches, perfect for families looking for sun, space, and a splash of Cyprus magic.
1. 🏝 Lady’s Mile Beach
📍 10 mins west of Limassol Marina
Lady’s Mile is a classic Limassol beach day. Long, flat, and spacious, it stretches for several kilometres along the Akrotiri peninsula. The water is shallow and calm, making it ideal for young kids and many beach bars have sunbeds, shaded areas, and kids’ menus.
🚿 Facilities: Changing rooms, showers, family-friendly restaurants
☕ Parent tip: Oasis and Captain’s Cabin are especially relaxed with little ones
🧒 Best for: Splashy toddlers and sandcastle builders
2. 🌴 Dassoudi Beach
📍 In the heart of Limassol
Dassoudi is a go-to beach for families who want nature and convenience in one. Nestled between eucalyptus trees and just off the main road, it’s easy to access and rarely overcrowded. The beach is clean, calm, and walkable from many neighbourhoods.
🚶♀️ Bonus: There’s a playground, footpath and beachfront café
☀️ Shade: Plenty, thanks to the trees
🧒 Best for: Morning strolls with prams, after-school beach runs
3. 🍹 Malindi Beach (aka St. Raphael Beach)
📍 Near St. Raphael Marina, Pyrgos
Often referred to as Malindi Beach thanks to the stylish beach bar of the same name, this area near the marina is loved for its clear water, soft sand, and slightly more upmarket feel. It's less wild than Lady’s Mile and has a peaceful vibe, great for families looking to unwind.
🍽 Great food, cocktails (for you) and space for kids to roam
🌊 Water: Calm, gently sloping
🧒 Best for: Sunday lunches that turn into lazy beach afternoons
4. 🪨 Governor’s Beach
📍 25 mins east of Limassol
Technically a bit outside Limassol, but 100% worth the drive. Governor’s Beach is known for its bright white rock formations and deep turquoise water. There are two main sections - one more rugged and scenic, and another better suited to families, with a small sandy cove and gentle waves.
🎨 Kids will love exploring the shallow rock pools
🍴 Taverna tip: Kalymnos Fish Tavern is right on the sand
🧒 Best for: Mini adventurers and nature lovers
5. 🚢 Hidden Gem: Fassouri (Shipwreck) Beach
📍 Akrotiri Peninsula, 15 mins from Limassol
Tucked away behind the salt lake, Fassouri Beach is a quiet, uncommercialised stretch of coast that feels totally off the beaten path. It's best known for the shipwreck of the ‘Three Stars’, which sits just offshore and gives the place a slightly surreal, adventurous vibe.
🧺 There are no facilities, so pack snacks, water, and shade
🌾 Wild and natural, with soft sand and shallow entry
📸 Bonus: Great photo ops with the shipwreck in the background
🧒 Best for: Kids who love wide open space, exploring, and pretend pirate games
Final Thoughts…
Limassol has a beach for every mood—playful, peaceful, or just practical for a quick dip after nursery. Whether you're looking for shade and snacks or space to spread out and relax, these five beaches have become favourites in the expat and local family communities alike.
