Top 5 Day Trips
Looking to get out of town for the day without going too far? One of the best things about living in Limassol is how close everything is—you’re an hour or less from ancient ruins, mountain adventures, splash parks, and some seriously unique spots.
Whether you’re after history, thrills, or just a change of scene, here are 5 of our favourite day trips for families based in Limassol.
1. 🏛 Kourion Archaeological Site & Beach
📍 20 mins west of Limassol
If your kids are old enough to handle a little walking, Kourion is a fantastic mix of education and adventure. The ancient amphitheatre, mosaics, and clifftop views are jaw-dropping—and afterwards, you can roll down to Kourion Beach for lunch and a paddle.
🧺 Family tip: Pack hats, snacks, and water—shade is limited
🌊 Combine it with: A swim or lunch at Chris Blue Beach
🧒 Best for: Culture-curious kids and beach lovers
2. 💦 Fasouri Watermania Waterpark
📍 15 mins from Limassol centre
One of the largest waterparks in Cyprus, Fasouri Watermania is a go-to for high-energy family fun. With everything from lazy rivers and toddler splash zones to big-kid slides and wave pools, it’s a guaranteed winner during the warmer months.
👙 Loads of sunbeds, lockers, and lifeguards
🍟 Food court with kid-friendly menus
🧒 Best for: All-day fun and cooling off in style
3. 🏞 Troodos Mountains & Caledonia Waterfalls
📍 1 hour from Limassol
For a change of pace (and temperature), head up to the Troodos Mountains. The Caledonia Trail is shady, streamside, and ends with a picture-perfect waterfall. It's doable with older kids or little ones in carriers, and there are plenty of places nearby for a post-hike meze.
🎒 Bring water, grippy shoes, and bug spray
🌿 Cooler than the coast—great in summer
🧒 Best for: Nature lovers and mini adventurers
4. 🏰 Kolossi Castle & Carob Museum
📍 15 mins from Limassol
This small medieval castle is a surprisingly big hit with kids—especially if you bring a picnic and let them climb to the top and explore the grounds. Nearby is the Carob Museum, where you can try local carob treats and learn how this humble pod once fuelled a whole trade.
🏰 Short, manageable visit with lots to touch and see
🍫 Don’t miss the carob chocolate
🧒 Best for: Mini historians and curious snackers
5. 🦋 Paphos Zoo & Lara Bay Turtle Spotting
📍 1 hr 15 mins from Limassol
Make a full day of it with a drive out to Paphos Zoo, which is surprisingly well kept and offers everything from giraffes to parrot shows. If your kids aren’t totally wiped out, continue north to Lara Bay, where wild turtles come ashore to nest (especially June–August).
🦒 Zoo has shaded paths and play areas
🐢 Turtle spotting requires a 4x4 or guided tour
🧒 Best for: Animal lovers and mini explorers
