Top 5 Villages to Visit

One of the best things about living in Limassol? You’re never far from a totally different vibe. In under an hour, you can swap city streets for stone houses, mountain air and meze in a village square.

These villages are rich in tradition, full of charm, and perfect for lazy walks, kid-friendly exploring, or just soaking up a slower pace of life. Here are five of our favourite day-trip villages, each with something special to offer.

1. 🍇 Omodos

📍 40 mins from Limassol

Arguably the most famous wine village in Cyprus, Omodos is known for its picturesque stone houses, cobbled square, and impressive 17th-century monastery. The central plaza is great for sitting with a coffee while kids run safely in view, and there’s plenty of browsing to be done in the surrounding craft shops.

Smaller and quieter than some of the others, Lofou is a beautifully restored village that feels untouched and authentic. Set on a mountainside with cascading cobbled paths, Kalopanayiotis feels like a mountain retreat. It’s best known for the Ayios Ioannis Lampadistis Monastery, sulphur springs, and spa retreats—but it’s also a lovely village to explore with kids. There’s a fun suspension bridge and a little riverside trail that younger kids love.

Final Thoughts…

Each of these villages offers something a little different—wine, waterfalls, or just a great place to breathe. And the best part? You can visit any of them in a day, no overnight required.

Pack snacks, bring layers (village weather can shift fast), and enjoy a slice of Cyprus that’s slower, sweeter, and a little more storybook than the coast.
